Foreign Influence and Information Manipulation in Armenia’s Electoral Context

Assessing Russian Narratives, Networks, and Pre-Election Risks Ahead of the June 7 Vote

As Armenia approaches its June 2026 parliamentary elections, its information environment is increasingly shaped by coordinated Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) activities. This report examines how Russian-aligned influence networks exploit post-war insecurity, political polarization, and geopolitical uncertainty to shape public perceptions and influence the electoral environment.

Through narrative analysis and open-source monitoring, the study identifies dominant pro-Kremlin narratives, coordinated amplification networks, and the growing use of AI-generated content across digital platforms. The findings demonstrate that these activities seek not only to influence electoral discourse, but also to undermine trust in democratic institutions, discourage closer engagement with the West, and preserve Russian geopolitical influence in Armenia.

The report concludes that strengthening democratic resilience, strategic communication, independent media, and societal awareness will be critical to protecting Armenia’s democratic processes and information environment during this pivotal electoral period.
